The Basic System
The premise is to keep it simple, but effective, for everyone’s ability to collaborate and for songwriters and composers to sell their music. This site is designed not only to sell exclusive licenses and full copyrights of songs and lyrics, but also non-exclusive covers. However, we tell you if a song has been licensed before. Major artists generally want clean, original music, and not something that’s been previously covered over and over again. We take care of every songwriter and every recording artist through our full disclosures. Just take a look at our music blog to see!
There will be two levels of membership here, buyers and sellers. After their free trial, song buyers will pay only $19.99 per year to view and listen within the song catalogs, and to communicate with other members through the private messaging system for purchases and collaboration. After their free trial, those who wish to sell their songs pay only $39.99 per year, and they can post unlimited works, and communicate with other members through the private messaging system for sales and collaboration. And for now, while it lasts, you can have a free one-year trial.
Posting A Song For Sale
To post a song or lyric into our song catlog on Tunes-Town, sellers need only to complete a submission form which is found below “Store” on the menu. Complete each field and read the content section wherein the seller confirms their ownership of all rights for the applicable song. Submit the form, and Tunes.Town will verify the completeness of the form and will moderate the content of the form if necessary. Vulgar, explicit, or inciteful content my be rejected for posting.
When posted, a confirmation email will be completed and the form will be forwarded to the originator with said confirmation which will serve as a form of copyright registration. Maintain the email on file for proof of origination and copyright ownership for the song.
Note: If you have questions about copyrights, please read the “About Copyrights” blog entry for more information.
To Purchase A Song Or Lyric
You need only to register under the “Account” menu option to become a buyer or a seller. While I’m giving away free one-year trials, once you register, I will contact you to determine your choice as to being a buyer or seller. Next, I will enter your special subscription with your one-year trial period. Once registered, buyer can buy from our song catalog and sellers can submit your new songs or new lyrics for posting. Buyers, can also use the private message system to contact the applicable seller and notify them of the song you are interested in purchasing. Then, like any other classified ad system, you and the seller work things out.
The buyer and seller communicate, back-and-forth if necessary, to agree on a selling price of the new songs or new lyrics. Then, like E-Bay, it is up to the buyer to pay the seller in advance for the song, normally through Zelle or PayPal. The seller keeps the entire proceeds–Tunes.Town makes nothing off of the sold songs or lyrics and we handle no monies for the sales. The seller will then provide the song, any music-only track, any stems, and a completed lyric sheet via email to the buyer. They will also complete an exclusive license or an assignment of copyright form to the buyer (complete and email the form found under “Song” on the menu). The form will provide a record of the sale and will alert the administrator to forward the document to the buyer and notate the song on the site or remove the song from the site. Note: For buyers and sellers under the age of 18, parental confirmation on the transfer form is required via their digital signature being in place as the seller.
The buyer and/or seller may then notify the system administrator via the contact email form of any issues with the sale processing; however, Tunes.Town is not responsible for any such issues though we may remove either the buyer or the seller from the system depending on the apparent fault/cause and severity of the issue(s).
To Request Collaboration
If you find someone you would like to try to collaborate with, then use the private message system to tell them that you are interested in collaborating with them. Then it is up to the other member to reply and advise the originator of their willingness to collaborate. If the response is to the affirmative, the two may then work out the details of their collaboration together.
